To Infinity and Beyond!

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,

neither have entered into the heart of man,

the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1 Corinthians 2:9

I love the ocean! I want to be the first one to spot the water in the distance as you are driving there. I love its distinctive smell as you draw near. I love the sound of the roar of the waves as you get closer and closer. The touch of the warm sand massages my feet when I enter the beach area. I view the water and enjoy the white foam on top of the waves. Finally, my favorite part is the feel of the cold water as it passes over my toes and ankles while walking along the wet seashore. My heart fills with gratitude to my Almighty God who made this magnificent Creation and allowed it to be available to me. My thoughts turn into prayers, and I can feel His presence with me as sojourn along shore together. After our conversation, I found a comfortable place to sit on the warm sand and just enjoy the view.

Perhaps your experiences at the beach are similar to mine. Looking at the sheer vastness of the ocean, we are reminded of how small we are in comparison, yet God still knows us by name and the number of hairs on our heads, even subtracting those that are blown away in the gentle breeze. Our worries and cares float away as the ceaseless waves pound the shore and crush our troublesome thoughts. As I look to the future and its concerns, we can compare it to the far-off horizon. The facts of the future are beyond what our mortal minds can imagine. Instead, it is as if the Lord resets our priorities. We can rely on the One who knows our tomorrows. We can trust He will see us through whatever lies ahead – and not just that, but He will walk with us as we experience it together. God is and will always be forever faithful.

It is good to look beyond. When We can look past our problems and discover His solution to them as we follow His guidance through the challenges we are facing (Isaiah 41:10). When confronted with financial difficulties, let’s look further than our debt and bills, then trust the One who promised He will always supply our needs (Philippians 4:19). If facing serious health concerns or experiencing great sorrow, find peace and comfort from Him who promised He will walk with us (Psalm 23). Best of all, we can look afar towards Heaven and rejoice for the hope we have within us. As our focus verse says, it will be far and above anything we can ever imagine. Besides, it will last forever, and we will have eternal life there, even further than to infinity and beyond.

Referenced verses:

Isaiah 41:10 – Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Philippians 4:19 – But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Psalm 23:3 and 4 – He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
